invoice not being saved in uploads/wordpress_invoices

You’re right – you won’t find any more invoices saved in the folder. For security reasons, we decided to withdraw the possibility of saving documents in the ftp directory from v4.4.0.

As for your second question, at the moment it is not possible to send a link to the invoice instead of an email attachment. But I will add this idea to our backlog and let you know if we decide to implement it.

@przemyslawrosa thanks for the reply. Its unfortunate change, as I had customized the pdf template to to attach the saved pdf to an email and send it to clients. with the new updates this is no longer possible with my limited knowledge.

I will probably need to purchase the pro version, but I was under the impression it needed woocommerce to work? can the pro version work by itself, without woo commerce? my needs are
1) customize look of invoice
2) send invoice by email once it is completed

If this feature was crucial to you, you can always downgrade the plugin to the older version. But we strongly recommend to always use the latest version of the plugin due to security reasons.

1) You can customize invoices’ template using only FREE version. WooCommerce is not required. Simply follow these steps: https://www.wpdesk.net/docs/flexible-invoices-templates/

2) Sending invoices by the e-mail is a PRO feature (WooCommerce required) and cannot be discussed on this forum. Please contact us here for more info regarding PRO version: https://www.wpdesk.net/get-support/
