Failing to import blogger comments

  • Hi!

    Some days ago i’ve installed WP on my web server thought the automatic installer of Dreamhost. I’ve used this install to test some feature and used the blogger import tool without any problems.

    Now i’ve deleted the old install (and all the junk automatically installed) and started with a fresh one manually installed with the zip file. I’ve also cleared the old DB.

    So i tried to import again my blogger blog and it failed: it imported correctly all the post, but sees and import only 117 comments, while the old import imported the 3000+ comments without any problems.

    I’ve tried anything: restarted the importer, tried to open a wp.com blog and run from it the importer tool, re-installed WP thought the automatic installer of dreamhost, but it see only the same 117 comments.

    Do you know how to have all my comments imported?

    I’ve created a new blog in blogger and imported all the post from the original blog. Then i re-started the importer in wp self-hosted: post imported correctly, but only 9 comments!

    I’m having the same issue here. I’ve tried from self-hosted and from WordPress.com. I’m not getting any comments older than about a month.

    I suspect Blogger is being clever and only giving “new” comments based on who you’re logged in as, but I haven’t been able to confirm it. Because of course I can only do the import while logged in as me.

    I’m stuck with a blog I can’t move until this works. Any help greatly appreciated.

    No news?

    I was able to import 250 comments (out of 3k+).

    No one know how to resolve this issue?

    I’ve found the blogger2wordpress python script but i’m not able to run it locally on my computer to convert the 9mb xml blogger exported file. And with this script is impossible to save the blogger permalink so it’s quite useless if someone wants to preserve the pagerank ??
