    Hey there,

Are there any plans to add Lazy Load for YouTube/Vimeo videos to this plugin?

Have you tried the new release, John? If you head into Settings -> YouTube Embed there’s now an option to switch on Lazy Load for the videos.

Yeap, I’ve tried it but the Google Pagespeed Insights results are not that great compared to WP YouTube Lyte :/

Huh. Does it give any reason as to why?

Don’t know. All I know is that we’re getting way better scores with WP YouTube Lyte than with YouTube Embed.

Thanks. I’ve had a quick look at that plugin and it appears not to add any YouTube code until you click on the video (i.e. it’s just a holding image). I’m not sure how that’s any quicker but for the next release of this plugin I’ll be looking at its footprint more generally. I’ll study the plugin some more to see if there are any other benefits to gain.

If that plugin works for you, though, then that’s great ??

Personally I prefer YouTube Embed so if you can optimize its Lazy Load, it will be awesome ??

Are you using Chrome, John? Native lazy loading isn’t supported in many browsers right now. I don’t intend to support any other version of lazy loading is using the native functionality is really the best path forward (and will soon be supported in WordPress by default).
