I am using this plugin with The SEO Framework. When I enable the ‘override with formats’ feature on event categories the page title in the browser tab is ‘Untitled’.

Is this a setting, or do I need to code a solution? I have seen references to resolving similar issues with a filter in my theme functions, but I am not sure how to check what the page type is for the categories page?

    Thanks

  • Hello!

Does this issue resolve after you add an item to the category?

    Hello again!

Please go to “SEO Settings > Post Types > Disable SEO”, and select “Events”. The category queries of Events Manager cannot be resolved correctly via the WordPress API (it’s seen as both a page as a category…), so TSF returns an “Untitled” response.

If you prominently use those categories, it’d be best to disable TSF for Events.
It’d be better if the categories are resolved correctly, however, so that we don’t have to go this unfavorable route. ??

    Thanks @cybr.

As the event categories are not prominent I need to do some testing to understand the impact of this before committing to excluding events from TSF. I have tested disabling events post type in TSF and I can confirm that it did fix the event category page title.

Removing the post type will also remove them from my sitemap, so I will need to disable TSF sitemap and jetpack or some other plugin to close this gap also.

    Cheers,
    Brendan

    No problem, @brendanshanahan

Please note that we found a bug with the option I mentioned earlier.

So, make sure to uncheck the robots-settings for the “Events” post type after playing around with the disabling of it. Sorry about that!

Thanks. I have chosen to keep the post type enabled and hide the event categories as much as possible as I don’t need them anyway due to a Buddypress group integration. The limitations of disabling the SEO customisation of all events outweighed this page title issue.

I am sure there are other workarounds I could investigate, such as disabling the event categories formats option, but it is not a high enough priority for me at the moment.
