Pages returning a 404

Make sure your .htaccess file is writable; WordPress will tell you on the Permalinks page if changes were saved to .htaccess. If not, you need to make the file writable via FTP.

If your .htaccess file were writable, we could do this automatically, but it isn’t so these are the mod_rewrite rules you should have in your .htaccess file. Click in the field and press CTRL + a to select all.
