    @willkeyworth I am sorry to hear that you have had this experience with our plugin.

    Though this is explainable behavior and we would very much like to help you solve this problem.

    Judging from your description it seems that you are using Contact Form 7 with Recaptcha v3. While Recaptcha is collecting personal data (as you can read here) our plugin helps you to ask website visitors consent before they can use the contact form. The contact form should unlock after the visitor accepts cookies via the notice or the cookie banner. In your case something went wrong here. Most likely this due to caching or minification settings.

    We hope that you’ll allow us to help you to get started. We’re here to help!

    Kind regards,
    Leon

    @willkeyworth and community,

    The fix is here: https://github.com/rlankhorst/complianz-gdpr/tree/Contact-Form-7-integration-fix

    You can also disable the integration with reCaptcha and/or Contact Form 7 under Integrations which would solve your issue as well.

    Please contact support for these issues. We’re active and ready to help. You can have a look at https://complianz.io/docs/ for more information.

    Hi @willkeyworth,

    I’m sorry you were having trouble with the integration with Contact Form 7. I hope I can convince you to try Complianz one more time! Let me explain what happened.

    In the latest Contact Form 7 update CF7 changed the way Google reCaptcha activates. This change caused reCaptcha not to activate after the user has given consent. This has been patched yesterday and will be released Monday.

    This integration is necessary, because Google reCaptcha tracks personal data from your users and therefore requires consent. For more information see this article: https://complianz.io/google-recaptcha-and-the-gdpr-a-possible-conflict/

    If you want to check out the plugin with patch before Monday you can install the latest version from Github, which works fine with reCaptcha and Contact Form 7. https://github.com/rlankhorst/complianz-gdpr/

    Alternatively, you can also disable the reCaptcha integration. Please note that using reCaptcha without user consent is not GDPR compliant, but that is up to you of course!

    If you have any questions about this, don’t hesitate to contact us. We’re always happy to help everyone with issues, and welcome feedback on the plugin.

    Rogier
