    hope this makes sense,
i have website1.com and have set a sub directory up .. website1.com/site2, i have purchased site2.com and masked forwarded to website1.com/site2, all works fine.
When i go to site2.com and try and log into wordpress i cannot (the log in page appears)i have to follow the full url eg. https://www.website1.com/site2/wp-admin, is it possible to correct this so i can just go https://www.site2.com/wp-admin,
    thanks in advance

    Ok, a few things…

Don’t use masking, or web forwarding at all. You need to get this setup a little more formally.

I’m not sure if you’re using WP on website1.com, but you should have another WP installation done at site2.com/wp… AFTER the following 2 steps are successfully completed:

    1) Setup an “Add-On” domain on your webserver. cPanel can do this easily. You’d specify that site2.com maps to website1.com/site2/ .

    2) Then, configure the DNS for site2.com (at wherever is hosting your DNS) to point to the same IP address at website1.com.

After a day or so for the DNS to propagate, theoretically this should be working fine. Test everything with regular website file (.html, etc.) and make sure things look ok. Then, install WP on site2.com as a fresh installation.

    Good luck,

Thank you for the reply, i will give that a try and let you know how i get on, thanks

FYI: Google just released another tool that can be used in the burdensome task of moving a site.
