Password protected files gets indexed by google

  • Hi guys,

    I’m creating files in WPDM; These are accessable for certain user types.

    But the problem is, these “password protected” files, works good on the frontend of our website, but the file end up in google search results! And when people click the direct url in google, there is no password protection at all and people can view the file.

    Am I doing something wrong? These files should not end up in the google search results at all (I’ve restricted them to certain user types :/)

    Hi,
    If you attach a file as URL they are really not protected, the file is in the media library, google may cache them. To keep the file from indexing, you need to upload it through wpdm and attach the file using the server file browser.
