I set up a subdomain to use for my CDN and so far everything is working great. However, it will not upload my media library for some reason. When I use the “export media library to CDN” button, it opens up and I start the transfer. It says there are 15 files to upload, but it only uploads 4. The fifth one is the actual “uploads” directory, but it keeps recognizing it as a file, not a directory. It just says “unable to upload file” for the “uploads” directory, then it stops. Previously, it wouldn’t upload anything, so I manually created the “uploads” directory in the static part of my domain, and it worked. Well, the 4 image files uploaded.

Wrong permissions? FTP error? Any ideas?

Can you paste the output here for review?

I have similar problem, but mine is worse. I can’t upload anything. Something must be wrong with FTP. First I thought it can’t connect to FTP, but it can: if I manually upload a few files, and then try to export media library, I get the message that the files already exist. So the FTP connection exists, but the plugin can’t upload for some reason. I get this message for all the files:

    wp-includes/images/crystal/audio.png Unable to upload file
    wp-includes/images/crystal/text.png Unable to upload file
    wp-includes/images/crystal/video.png Unable to upload file
    wp-includes/images/crystal/default.png Unable to upload file
    wp-includes/images/crystal/code.png Unable to upload file
    wp-includes/images/crystal/spreadsheet.png Unable to upload file
    wp-includes/images/crystal/document.png Unable to upload file
    wp-includes/images/crystal/interactive.png Unable to upload file
    wp-includes/images/crystal/archive.png Unable to upload file

I also get FTP error message when testing:
Test failed. Error: Unable to upload file: /home/users/web/xxxxx/xxxxxxxxxxxxx/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/test_file_8a32e6bed477ce466943e0ed03625275.

Any ideas? I tried to change the static library’s chmod to 777, and no change.

@navimeister you’ve confirmed that you can FTP with a normal FTP client also? It appears there is a permission issue.

Yes, I can FTP with normal FTP client.

Have you tried passive mode in the plugin?

I did, still the same error.

Yes, I can FTP with normal FTP client.

FTP upload has been supported since the first release, so I have to ask. You tried to use the same credentials to upload the files mentioned and they worked with your normal FTP client? I’m not simply asking about successful connections.

Yes, I can upload, overwrite, download with normal FTP client. Tried with the same username, the same folders & files, and it works.

Ok, it’s best to submit a bug submission via the support tab of the plugin with access to your server.

I’ve got the same problem, and when I click on the support tab, I get the following message: “Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_user_by() in /home4/sleepama/public_html/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/lib/W3/Plugin/TotalCache.php on line 1238”.

Either the plugin is missing files or another plugin is interfering. Are you able to check both cases (disable the rest or reinstall)?

I also have problem with self-hosted CDN, it is not working for me. Whenever i click on test button i get the following message: “Test failed. Error: Unable to connect to localhost:21.”

“Test failed. Error: Unable to connect to localhost:21.”

Try putting 127.0.0.1 or the hostname you would use in your FTP client.

Try putting 127.0.0.1 or the hostname you would use in your FTP client.

I tried both but still the same error.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_user_by() in /home4/sleepama/public_html/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/lib/W3/Plugin/TotalCache.php on line 1238

This is fixed in the next release. Contact me for a preview version.
