The second post with name “2020minuten met reis 4 simpele woorden” is a video post and it suppose to show the embed video. But that is not the case.

Do I need to install a specif plugin to realise this?

Hi @celestinaf,

You can find instructions for the video format in the readme file, included in the theme folder:

== The Video Format

1. Create a new post.
2. Select "Video" in the Format window to the right.
3. In the post content, enter the full url to the video you want to include.
4. Directly after the url, add the <!--more--> tag followed by the rest of the content. Example:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxx
<!--more-->
The rest of the content...

5. Publish.
6. The video will now be displayed in a separate section from the content of your post.

If you’re using the block editor, try inserting the video URL and the more tag in a “Custom HTML” block at the start of the content.

Hi Anders,

Thank you for youre reply. I’m trying what youre saying, but still no succes.
I added a HTNL block and added the following:
https://youtu.be/R6p05fGIW_Q, <!–more–>https://youtu.be/R6p05fGIW_Q<!–more–>

What am I doing wrong here?

@celestinaf Seems I led you astray a bit in my previous reply. Instead, add a “Classic” block, click the button with the three dots above the block, select “Edit as HTML”, paste the code in the field:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxx
<!--more-->
Text after the more.

…and update/publish.

The post format specific functionality in Baskerville predates the block editor by a good couple of years, and it was a pretty convoluted solution even before the block editor was released. Unless you definitely need to display the video embeds on the archive pages, I’d recommend you to use the block editor video block instead.

Hi Anders,

It works! Thank you very much for your help.

Hey, I try to display a Youtube video in the post archive and have the same problem. The solution above unfortunately is not working. Strange: with a Vimeo lonk it’s working … Any idea?
Btw, the theme looks great, as all of your work!

Thank you Anders, I had the exact same issue and your solution to use Classic block worked for me.

I want to make sure I understand your recommendation to use the block editor video block. I normally do if video is part of my post, but is this classic block still the best way for the video to show up on my home page?

Love your theme! Keep up the great work!
