• Just switched hosting companies. With the old one I could always install WordPress on the dedicated IP until the client is happy then we change the DNS to direct the domain name to the site. Then, yeah, I changed all the links. Anyway did everything I usually do with the new host but now when I go to the IP I get /404.html instead of WP installing. At the old host I could then go to https://162.241.85.94/wp-admin.php and design the site, but this /404.html has blocked all that.

  • Your webhost should be able to help you with that.

    Most servers should have a default HTML file to show when the server is called via the IP address and that file should be in the root web. Your server doesn’t have that so a 404 is returned.
