Is it possible to add a TOC for each page in a post? I have several posts that are long enough that they require being split up. The automatic TOC appears on every one, and it’s the same one that doesn’t necessarily reflect the content on a given page.

Is there a shortcode that can fix this?

On multiple page posts, the TOC will show the TOC items for all headings on every page of the post. This allows visitors to jump to any part of the post regardless of the current page of the post they on currently on. This is a feature and not a bug so there is nothing to be fixed. I hope this clears up the expected functionality of TOC items on multiple paged posts.

Unfortunately it is not working on one particular post. It’s a large article that spans 5 pages. The TOC that’s up there is drawing a small subset of the headings, and they’re not necessarily on the same page. You can see from the screenshot here that that first heading is not in the TOC at all.

Is it because there’s too many headings that it’s not working right? There’s 24 main headings with 3 subheadings on one of the categories.

Sharing a link to the actual page is act8qally more helpful than a screenshot and saves me the time of tracking it down from the screenshot.

The result does seem odd… from the screenshot, it appears only the TOC items for pages 2 and 5 are showing.

It appears you are using the new WP Editor for this page. Is that correct?

Can you please activate ezTOC on this page so I can take a look? I want to make sure they are truly missing and simply being hidden by another plugins or theme CSS.

    Ok, it’s activated now.

Just for completeness, the issue was that the number of headings was set as 6 and needed to be set to 5 because only pages 2 and 5 had enough heading to qualify as TOC items because they had 6 or more headings.

That makes sense! That’ll help the next time I notice something like this. I appreciate you taking the time to help me understand what happened there!
