    Hi,
When running my site through the w3c validator, it results in 1 warming and 2 errors
The warning and 1 error seems to be related to the site kit plugin:

    1) error: Duplicate attribute async
(this is in google tag manager)

    2) warming: he type attribute is unnecessary for JavaScript resources
    (also tag manager)

What can I do about this?

    Kind regards,
    Bas

  • @bvo thanks for your inquiry! I will confer with our team about this and get back to you as soon as possible.

@bvo quick question: are you using plugin(s) to optimize the site’s code?

If so, could you temporarily disable them and check your site in the validator again?

I’m not getting the same errors with Site Kit’s snippets on my test site, so I’m curious if another plugin could be altering the site’s mark up and triggering these errors.

    Thank you!

    Hi Renee,
    Thanks for your reply!
I do use a plugin to optimize: Autoptimize

When I disable it, the error is gone (!), the warning still exists. So maybe that’s something you could take a look at for your next version? I’ll contact the Autoptimize author.

    Thanks,
    Bas

re. Autoptimize; check the setting under Autoptimize -> Extra -> “Async JavaScript” maybe?

@bvo thanks for the update! For the remaining warning, Site Kit’s snippet alone does not have the type='text/javascript' attribute that is being flagged so something else is adding this.

    @optimizingmatters thanks for checking additionally!
