Buggy, poor support, not refunding
-
This was the first membership plugin I used and at first was very impressed but then quickly found issue after issue, stopped receiving help from support, and they completely ignored my request for a refund (hence the 1 star).
The plugin is very easy to setup, you basically enter your paypal email and it creates all the pages for you etc.
One of the first issues I noticed was that it is a wonkey and convoluted registration process out of the box. People click a paypal button, go to pay, and at no point register on the website – they only register afterwards by clicking a registration link in an email sent out (god forbid that end up in junk mail etc). You can change this so that they have to register first but this is lots of extra work.
After setting it all up I noticed just weird little bugs that you shouldn’t expect in any decently coded plugin and other very basic options missing.
For instance:
– When you go to add a new customer VIA the admin panel, it autofills the admin username and password into the fields, I’m guessing this is because they simply copied over the exact same code from the front facing profile edit form that autofills the username of the logged in user. Because of this my client almost started emailing out the username and password of the admin account to people they were trying to add (hopefully it would have given an error since that username would be taken but we weren’t going to try to find out).
– All the registration fields are country specific (zip code, state, etc) and the base plugin gives no option to change this. Asking how you could change this I was told to purchase ANOTHER addon (you have to purchase premium addons for this to do very basic things) called Form Builder. With this you can build custom front facing forms …. but when you go to add a new member you don’t get these fields. I asked thought their “PREMIUM” support (only available to people purchasing the premium addons) how I could get these fields in the admin screen when adding users and they never gave me an answer.Being frustrated at being nickle and dimed over a half built , buggy plugin I asked for a refund but they ignored me and never responded.
I have since moved on to another popular membership plugin and it is night / day. I paid one amount upfront and get EVERYTHING and much MUUUUCH more than this plugin offers, without nickle / diming me; the new plugin allows me to easily make custom registration fields on front / back ends, is well documented, has good support, just as easy to setup, registration process that makes sense, etc.
UPDATE:
Owner of the plugin sent me angry emails for writing a bad review (they only bothered responding to my emails asking for a refund after I wrote a bad review) and called me a leach for wanting my money back lol do not buy this plugin
