Duplicate posts on P2 theme.

    Hi,

    I’ve installed P2, and I love it. It works great for my personal blog and portfolio website – https://www.barryamundson.com

    Everything works great, except I am getting duplicate posts showing up. At first it was just the test posts I had made with the AJAX posting on the front page, but it also seems to affect other posts. As time goes on there seem to be more and more duplicate posts on the site.

    I have read about resolving this issue by setting the right timezone. It’s set correctly, and regardless of what time zone I set, I still have this problem. I have seen others mention this, but I haven’t seen it resolved

    RESOLVED: Well, while I was writing this I did some troubleshooting by turning off all the plugins. and it worked. I think I resolved it – Once I disabled ‘Advanced Category Excluder’ Plugin the theme didn’t have this problem. I’m just posting this here in case anyone else runs into this..

    I don’t have any plugin installed as I’ve just installed WP and p2 theme but every minute it appears a new post duplicate after the first and only article I have (Hello World).
    Any change to get rid of this problem?

    I’m getting the same problem, and haven’t found a solution to it. I have a fresh install of WordPress running the P2 theme at gravepost.com, and every fifteen seconds it duplicates all posts on the front page.

    I’d really like a solution to this, as P2 is otherwise a great theme.

    I don’t think this is a plugin problem (like simonproject – this was happening BEFORE I added plugins). It seems the WP install cannot have a timezone offset – so you MUST set your local time to match your server time.

    Did that, still getting duplicates.

    has anyone solved this? If it’s a timezone issue, does anyone know how to reset it on ubuntu?

    This is an issue where you create a post, then change the site timezone settings in General > Settings. It actually affects any WordPress site, not just a site running the P2 theme. It’s more obvious in P2 since the front-page tries to find any newly posted entries.

    To fix it you can manually edit the post that is getting repeated to change the time so it’s in the past. We will have a more robust fix for it in a future P2 release.

    The other way to avoid it is to set the timezone setting right away when creating the WordPress site (before any posts are created).
