We manually marked this page up with microdata to see if we could get a featured snippet in Google. We’re now trying to get started with the JSON-LD Markup plugin to add schema information for Google to FAQs and how-tos. I see in the how-to schema how to add the steps and other information directly into the plugin fields, but when I select webpage.faq there’s nowhere to put the questions. Do I have to make each question as a separate post with question schema and link them to a FAQ page with a shortcode from the free FAQ manager add-on? Thanks!

To manage FAQ archive pages and their Question / Answer singular pages, you can use the WPSSO FAQ Manager add-on.

If you choose to add shortcodes from the WPSSO FAQ Manager add-on to your post / page content, WPSSO JSON will add those FAQs / Questions to the Schema hasPart property for the current content markup, provided the Schema type for the content is CreativeWork or a sub-type of CreativeWork (see https://schema.org/hasPart for more info).

Thanks, is it required then that we have a separate public post for each individual question? We really just want the FAQ archive pages, not the individual ones.

Yes, that’s correct – the WPSSO FAQ Manager uses the WordPress way of managing content – single Questions / Answers (post objects) are grouped into categories (term objects).
