How do you move a block up or down in a post? In WordPress 5.4 you have removed the arrow (on the left side of a block) that makes it easy to move a block to another place in a post. This arrow was very useful. Why have you removed it? Am I missing something? Thank you.

By the way, I tested this in Chrome and there I can see the arrow. In Firefox (my default browser) the arrow does not show. Why not?

This is odd. I tested this with Firefox on another PC and everything works. The arrow showes. What is going on? Have I changed options that I am not aware of?

Ok, I think I have discovered a bug in WordPress 5.4. If I deside to place the block-tools on top (instead of with the block itself) then the arrow disappears!

    Can you fix this please!?

I’m assuming this user has the Gutenberg plugin installed. This is only a problem in the plugin right now.
With the new G2 UI. It’s being figured out here: https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/20078

I have not the Gutenberg plugin installed. I use the standard visual editor without the plugin.

If you don’t have the plugin installed, then it’s right there on the left hand side. See:

The Gutenberg plugin is bleeding edge, and thus occasionally buggy. If you have it activated, then currently, that left hand arrow bar disappears.

    Didn’t see this note before.

If you place the toolbar on top, then the movement arrows go up top too.

The up and down arrows are between the Tools link (looks like a pencil) and the block type selector (looks like a backward P, for paragraph block).

Ok, I see the arrow now, but why on earth move the arrow to the top?? It should be where it is actually useful.

I second aegirr’s comment: why on earth did you move the arrow to the top? It’s a pain.

What’s even more of a pain is that you can now no longer drag-and-drop a block if you have the toolbar at the top.

So I had to put the toolbar back on the block-level to be able to drag my blocks. Please fix it in the next iteration.

Edit: for anyone else coming here, the issue is being discussed here: https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/20078

For myself: I knew I should not have upgraded this soon.
