• Ok so today I noticed that one of my plugins had an upgrade available. I chose to upgrade it automatically. Entered the ftp info and away it goes. The update looked like it got stuck most of the way through but I let it run for about 20 minutes just to make sure. I closed it out and now my site is unreachable. Did I do something wrong? More importantly, what is the first thing I need to do to recover my site? Backed up the db through phpMyAdmin today so i’m not sweating any data.

    thanks in advance

  • is the whole site crashed now ?
do you have a back up of the files?
what plugin is it? have you tried the plugins forum/faq??

Using FTP, rename the folder for that particular plugin – this will deactivate it and you can get your site back

Well the site was unreachable for about 20 minutes then all of a sudden popped back up. That particular plugin was deactivated and not upgraded. Still showing an update available for it. Is there better way of updating plugins? This is the 2nd time i’ve had this problem. While I want to keep my plugins up to date, I dont want to risk a self induced crash.

    Thanks for the responses
