Are filters sticky?

    I’m troubleshooting some filters used in my theme’s functions.php, using add_filter function.

    I was wondering if add_filter is “sticky”, such as if removing the add_filter call in functions.php is sufficent to stop the filter, or a remove_filter call is needed to stop filtering?
