    Hi!

finally a simple and working counter, without 30000millions settings, that logs everything.

But! – is there a function so it doesn’t add a view every time I press reload?
like some kind of 5 minutes cookies?
otherwise this is just what I spent a whole day looking for..

    Hello @catsfoto1se

Thanks for the kind assessment. The core function of the plugin is to record every new page load and show those stats in real time. If you reload the page it will be recorded as a new ‘hit’.

If we where to add a cookie as you suggest that delays any further recording then users all over the world would think that PVC was not working.

I will change your topic status to ‘resolved’ now – you can still reply if you wish.

    Ok, then I know, thx

    Hi Steve,

As the previous commenter mentioned – having the option to only record one unique view per user for a specific duration would be pretty neat. Of course I understand your reply where you mention people will think your plugin is broken BUT, how about having the option to enable the cookie? So users need to explicitly go to their settings and enable session cookies and set the duration of the cookie? I too am looking for something like this.

    Thanks,

    Hello @shayno90

Thanks for your feedback – Now I am really curious about this? I just don’t understand what purpose it servers – I mean I understand if like Google Analytics you can exclude recording an admins hit by their IP address or excluding logged in admin by role, so your only recording visitor traffic and not admin traffic.

I just don’t understand what purpose this serves

having the option to only record one unique view per user for a specific duration would be pretty neat.

Also I think that it would be only very small % of internet users who would even know how to do this

So users need to explicitly go to their settings and enable session cookies and set the duration of the cookie?

I have never done that myself and would have to dig around in Chrome / Firefox / Edge / Safari to find how to do it.

I am not being negative – I just really don’t understand what having a way – cookie or otherwise to only record 1 hit per a user would be ?

If you could tell me what that option would allow you to achieve or what benefit it would be then I might understand?

    Thanks

@a3rev what @shayno90 (at least I think so) is referring to (at least that was my original question) is a delay, so a visitor just can’t press reload and the counter adds a visit, because it’s not a new visit..

I will appreciate the feature as well. Page reload should not count as new view. Thanks

Im in full support of this feature, I think people over rely on google for everything what if google analytics did not exist so wordpress would not have an awesome plugin to track page views.
