Not able to edit files

I recently upgraded to 1.5, things work great, but when I try editing theme files .. I am not able to save them. It doesn’t matter what I do to the files (chown 666 etc) I am still not able to edit them. I don’t know if this has been covered already, just curious. Thanks!
