I am using the current version of Elegant Themes Divi theme on this website: shadypinesstorytown.com.

My header social media icons disappeared recently, as well as the social media icon tab in the Divi Theme Options. I checked my plugins, and both Font Awesome and Social Divi had both deactivated. After just trying to reactivate them, which didn’t work, I got them both back by rolling the Font Awesome plugin back to version font-awesome.4.0.0-rc10 after trying the most recent couple of updates.

This is a great plugin, thank you!

    Hi @vpep,

Good to hear you are enjoying the plugin.

I will try to find a gap in my schedule to see if I can debug the issue you mentioned.

Thanks in advance for your detailed feedback about the version numbers!

I will let you know when I have any updates on this.

    Best regards,

    Hi @vpep!

I’m happy to let you know I was able to find some time to look at your issue. There was indeed a conflict with the latest version of Font Awesome plugin; they changed the name of their main plugin file. This conflicted with the Social Divi plugin since it wasn’t able to detect the activated Font Awesome plugin.

The Social Divi plugin has been updated to allow for both the previous versions and the new version.

Could you verify this for me by updating to the latest version (1.1.3) when it becomes available for you in the WordPress plugin repository?

    Best regards,
    Jelle

Hi Jelle. Thank you for looking into this!

I updated to 1.1.3 of Social Divi and then updated to the current Font Awesome plugin and am afraid the social icons still disappeared from the site header, with both Font Awesome and Social Divi deactivating without my input.

I have reverted to font-awesome.4.0.0-rc10 and the social icons came back after re-activating Social Divi 1.1.3.

    Hi @vpep,

You mentioned you’re using Social Divi 1.1.3, I assume you upgraded Font Awesome to the latest version (4.0.0-rc19)?

I have re-enacted your set-up; could you please try the following steps:
    – Upgrade Font Awesome (with ‘update now’ in the plugins overview).
    – Refresh the page after a succesful update (WordPress will throw an error: “The plugin font-awesome/font-awesome.php has been deactivated due to an error: The plugin does not have a valid header.”).
    – Refresh the page again (now Social Divi will also have deactivated itself).
    – Activate the new version of Font Awesome.
    – Activate Social Divi.
    – Check your icons again.

It should be save to do this, no Divi settings should be lost.

    Let me know,
    Jelle

I checked again today and the icons are still present, so it looks like we’re good. Thanks again for this great plugin!
