Treating letter variants as single letter for alphanumeric ordering

Hi.
Would be great to have accented characters to be treated like their non accented counterparts for ordering purposes which is not what happens with the current method. E.g if one specified alphabet that contained Aá you may end up with a list ordered like Az,áa… and also secondary letter ordering like By, Bá etc.
Rather than specifying the ordering of letter variants, is it possible to switch letters for purpose of ordering e.g. swap é for E etc.?
