Show one full latest post on a page

Maybe I’m looking at this wrong. We have a list of posts here (archived):

https://www.willrogerstoday.com/comments-archive/
Works fine. Click on one of the archive posts and you’ll see a simple layout.

I want to be able to pull the most recent post (only one per page) and show it here:
https://www.willrogerstoday.com/weekly-comments/ (what’s there now is static content placeholder).

On a page reserved just for that. Almost all plugins want to give me a list with links or a sidebar, that’s not what I want.

How can I solve this?
