how to respect permalinks in the hreflang tag

I use ccTLDs and WPML Plugin for translation. The permalinks are different for each language, but it is not respected by the plugin for hreflang tags. The header of the URL is considered depending on the language e.g. sample.co.uk/… or sample sample.fr/… but after the / the translated permalink is set which generates 404 errors with the hreflang tag to other languages. Is there a configuration parameter which I did not see or should I use for this purpose the plugin HREFLANG Tags lite?
