• Up until now, I have used an FTP program to upload images and then add them to the post.

I used the “Add media files from your computer” for the first time the other day and am not really clear on this feature.

After uploading the images I saw the images show in the media library.

Will they always be there and if you’ve been posting for months, won’t there be a heck of a files showing in there?

Do you have to clear the media library every so often? I did select an image and the delete. That cleared it from the library as well as from the post.

  • Well, no – you don’t (and shouldn’t) clear the media library. But you don’t need to either, because… it’s your library!

If you select the option to
Organize uploads into month- and year-based folders
the folders to sort all the files will created as you upload new images, so the uploads folder is quite organized.

On my site I now have 485 images in my media library, but I don’t really need quick access to images I’ve posted months ago. Although I can still find anything by browsing a single month at a time or by searching.

Hope this makes it clearer? Good luck.
