• Hi,

I’m upgrading my blog from WP 2.2.2 to 2.8.4 . I’m using a local WAMP version of my site to test out the upgrade before doing it on my live site.
Using Apache V2.2.13 and PHP V5.2.9 on WAMP 2.0

I can read my posts and am using the the /%postname%/ permalink structure on the upgrade to make it more SEO friendly. On the original blog, I used the
/%category%/%postname%/ structure. But, accessing the actual post urls
is not the problem. I have an .htaccess file and have rewrite_module checked off on the Apache module list.

The problem that’s driving me nuts is the 404 errors on the category pages. I haven’t changed any of the category assignments to the posts or even the posts. The category list in the sidebar show the right hierarchy and post count.

Don’t know if this will help, but these are some entries to the Apache error and access logs when I tried to access the category pages. Boy, am I glad I decided to test the upgrade with WAMP!

Forgot to mention that I’m running WAMP from Windows XP. Not sure if that makes any difference.
