• Hello,
After a week of building successfully my new wordpress website, I’m suddenly stucked on a simple (yet functioning) website. From a minute to another, the wordpress admin tools have just disappeared. No way to get them back. As it worked fine before, in a total automatic way, I’m totaly puzzled.
Since three days, I go through hundreds of forums, advices, tips, aso, but still coudn’t get a simple answer to solve this nightmare.
    MySQL DB looks intact.
I’m running what seems to be the latest versions of WordPress, Theme and Mamp on MacBook Pro (yet Mojave 10.14.6).
None of the current explainations have helped.
Has anybody gone through this precise burden, and found the way to rise from the darknes?

  • I’ve never touched a Macbook…

I like the idea of a local host but they are tough to fix remotely as I can’t look at the website which is often all I need to figure out the problem…

If the site itself works mostly as a website then you know it’s just a matter of recovering the admin access.

If you can call admin by adding /admin/ to the URL used to view the website then you can figure htaccess is there and working.

If you get to a login modal then you know the ‘backend’ resources are pretty much there.

If you input what you believe is the right login info then it should let you in or hint at what is wrong.

If you somehow broke the admin user then you’ll need to dive into fixing that.

This document should get you there in the last case.

    Hello,
    Thanks for answering.
Adding /admin/ doesn’t change things, alas.
And the other link : https://localhost/phpmyadmin/index.php also gets the “Your browser cannot open blablabla…”
And “trying to dive” is also something I tried. But I’m not a programmer, and that’s why I’ve chosen to try with WordPress… :/

This is nice: “In the Administration Screen, menu, go to Users > All Users.“… but first: where is the Administration Screen to be found? In MySQL’s page? Because, I don’t find any WorldPress Administration anymore.
Or should I all start from scratch, with a new WordPress install? (One more complète week to enter all the stuff again)

EDIT: Plus there is a confusion with the user’s name… I can find the DB user, but not the WordPress site user (they are sooo many passwords and stuff: it’s hard to choose from the pile.)
