at the moment I’m using [give_goal id=”542″ show_text=”true” show_bar=”true”] inside of a shortcode, the problem is that I won’t it inside of the goal achieved message so it can happen automatically however if I do that it just doesn’t work.

Hi there! So glad you found the feature.

For anyone else wondering, within the form settings, in the Donation Goal settings is the option to Close Form once the goal has been met. This way you can keep the form where it can be seen, show site visitors that you met your goal, but disable the ability for a donation to be made to it, thus disallowing overfunding for that particular project.

Pro Tip: in the messaging showing the form is closed, consider putting a link to another project/campaign, so a donor can still donate to your organization if they’d like, through another form.

    Happy fundraising!
