I want to have two different calendars on my WP site. I have reviewed the support articles about how to do this.

Using the Event Category in the URL e.g. example.com/events/category/outdoors works and it generates a month view with just the required events. However the filter only applies to the current view. As soon as you the use the previous/next options to move to the next month or move back again the filter no longer applies and all events are shown not just the ones designated by the category. This limitation therefore does not provide a usable solution.

The other option suggested is to use the calendar Embedded Shortcode method e.g. [tribe_events view=”month” category=”outdoor”]. This method needs Events Calendar Pro. I am happy to purchase the Pro version but I need to know if this will handle the category filtering properly by maintaining the filter when months are changed.
Will the Pro version resolve the limitations of the Category method?

    Thanks

    Hi @jupiter1955,

Thanks for your interest in our Plugin.

We indeed have support for the feature you are talking about. I’ve put a small screencast demonstrating the behavior on my local website.

What you might be experiencing is an edge case that we are not currently aware of, which I would love to get more information to fix, since I cannot reproduce it locally.

The only thing we are currently aware of in the shortcodes is the URLs are still not being updated when dealing with shortcodes. So you cannot link to a specific filter when using shortcodes, due to how URL management for those instances is a very specific feature. We are working on it but we don’t have a due date.

Please let us know if you have any more questions.

    my Best regards,

    Hi

Thanks you @bordoni for the information. However the link you gave me will not work as it is coming up as not secure.

    Can you send another link?

    Thanks

I just updated the link, somehow CloudApp decided to not refresh my SSL certificate for HTTPs, now it should be working, but there might be some local browser cache.

    Sorry for that.

@bordoni Thank you – that is exactly what I need!!

I plan to purchase EC Pro but just waiting for now because I have another problem at the moment which is already being investigated by Modern Tribe. For some inexplicable reason the date selector on the calendar does not work on the site I have built which is rather annoying. Hopefully I will hear back from them soon ??

    Regards

Due to the other problem I have as described previously, I have reverted to the “old layouts” prior to V5. It would appear that the method with the Category in the URL works perfectly well. It seems that this problem is also with version 5!
