Projects, gallery etc

I have a theme on my site.
In the basic view a have an item thats called “portfolio items”.
There i have a lot of stuf. Now i want to change my theme.
And the “portfolio items” are gone and the topic. Now i have something thats called gallery.
How can i change this?
