YouTube embed stops working with this plugin
-
When I activate it they stop working. When I deactivate, it will work again. BTW, support page on author’s site give an error.

Hi @tpchristian,
Strange, I just tried the support page, this worked without issues. What kind of error do you see?
As for YouTube: if you use the default YouTube embed, or one of the supported plugins, you should see a placeholder with a screencapture from youtube, automatically downloaded, like this:
https://demo.complianz.io/placeholders/youtube/If this is not what you see, can you share your domain so we can take a look?
Hi @tpchristian,
Were you able to resolve the issue? You can always deactivate specific integrations in complianz/integrations.
As YouTube places marketing cookies, it has to be blocked until consent is given.
When in edit mode, youtube embed looks normal and shows an image. However, when I run the actual page, that area will just be blank — no error.
I have it working, but only by deactivating the Complianz plugin. I just tried activating it again and all of my yourtube embeds just show as blank on the web site.
Hi @tpchristian,
Could you share the URL of your website so we can see what is happening and how the video’s are embedded? You can privately share the URL under ‘the page I need help with’. This won’t show publicly.
As @rogierlankhorst stated, Disabling the YouTube integration under Complianz-> Integrations -> Youtube will allow you to keep the plugin activated while we solve the YouTube issue.
Thank you for your patience, we’re happy to help!
Regards,
Leon@tpchristian can you share a link to a page with a youtube embed? If you don’t want to share it here, you can also send it to https://complianz.io/support
Here is the link to my site…
However, I have the plugin deactivated.
Are you asking me to keep it activated, with the problem, so you can look at it? I don’t mind that, but only for a very short period of time. I don’t want to leave my site non-functional for any longer period of time.
Am I to understand that you don’t find the same problem when putting in a youtube embed?
Hi @tpchristian,
Thank you for the link. I was not asking you to keep the plugin activated with the YouTube problem in place. Disabling the integration would only make sure that Complianz does nothing with your YouTube embeds.
However, if you would be ok with enabling Complianz with the problem in place, we can have a look within 30 minutes.
We are not aware of any problems with our YouTube integration, you can see it working here: https://demo.complianz.io/placeholders/youtube/

LeonHi @tpchristian,
We noticed that you now have Complianz enabled so we started investigating. I see some console errors ‘jQuery is not defined’. Complianz requires jQuery, also for the Cookie Banner (which is also not showing on your website).
We also created a sandbox environment with your theme (2016?) activated, but have no troubles with YouTube embeds and Complianz.
It seems that enabling jQuery will solve these issues. Until you solved the issue, I would advise to turn off the YouTube integration under Complianz -> Integrations -> YouTube. This will prevent the YouTube video’s from appearing in white.
Kind regards,
Leon-

I was just trying the removing the flag for youtube in integrations and that allows it to work. I am still trying to understand that integrations page. Is that to intentionally disable some interrogations? In other words, if you have youtube checked, is it intentionally disabling youtube?
Let me know. I could put it back to the non=working mode if you need to take a look. Just so it is not too long.
@tpchristian The integrations list is to disable Complianz integrations. We designed out plugin to block services that place cookies that require consent, until consent is provided.
For most services (like YouTube) we made a custom integration, which shows a screenshot of the video and a text that asks for consent to these cookies in order to display the video.
In this case you can temporarily disable the integration while we are solving the problem together. This is to make sure that we don’t prevent your website visitors from watching the video’s at all.
As for the cause of the problem: it seems that jQuery is not enabled for your website. Would you have an idea why this is disabled? Enabling jQuery again will very likely solve the problem.
Kind regards,
LeonHi @tpchristian,
Did you already manage to solve the jQuery problem? If there is anything we can do to help, please let us know!
Regards,
LeonI have figured out what is causing them, but not necessarily how to solve it. These are also caused by some other plugins. I saw three and two were by one plugin and the other one by a second plugin. I am pretty new to WP and I can see that stepping into the plugin world should be a bit more cautious. Thank you, gentlemen, for your support, but I will take it from here.
Hi @tpchristian,
Thanks for letting us know. If you need further assistance, let us know!
regards Aert
