• I’ve already set up my database and entered my information correctly, but after I try run the install.pjp file it returns a :

“You appear to already have WordPress installed. If you would like to reinstall please clear your old database files first.”

My host has told me that another hostee is running wp. Would this be the cause of me being unable to install one on my subdomain?

    Please help ??

  • Odd error, but this wil sort it.
    Open up ‘wp-config.php’
Find the line with the ‘table_prefix’ – it should have
    ‘wp_’
    in there.
Change that to ‘justinewp_’ and installing should be fine.

Actualy, I find that to be in poor form on the part of the host. That means they have multiple users using the same database. Bad juju if you ask me.

Not only that, but it sounds like they weren’t willing to help Justine around the issue. I guess the 1 lucky customer got to install WordPress, and that’s it. Never fear, Podz’ suggestion should work. If not, take your money somewhere else and find a good host that knows what they’re doing and cares about their customers.

I’d agree with TG and macamanx – I’d move host.

thanks for your feedback. No it wasn’t my hosts fault. I wanted to have a go at the 5 minute installation word press is so famous for. guess newbies like me still wouldn’t get it ??

thanks again for your help and happy new year.
