    Hi Daan

Thank you for the great plugin.
I thought I had this working 2 months ago, but on returning today my fonts are being served externally. There was also a missing file error for OMGF.

I’ve now reinstalled and followed the usual steps. I changed the save directory so clearing the cache didn’t lose the webfonts. That might have been why it stopped working.

However, now I’ve lost my main headlines. The fonts are not getting served locally or externally. It’s just blank in IE or Chrome incognito (no browser cache). Changing the font-display option to ‘swap’ means a basic font displays and the rest of the website can load.

I tried deactivating OMGF and nothing changed.

Do you have any suggestions on how I can solve this?

    Thank you
    Paul

I think the problem is the “Async JavaScript” plugin I recently installed. I’ll need to exclude the OMGF script from that probably. I’m working on it.

By turning off “Async JavaScript” & deactivating OMGF my fonts displayed correctly.

I’ve continued to problem solve OMGF. I found that once I deleted the Google fonts external stylesheets I didn’t get any fonts served locally (visually and looking at the Gmetrix waterfall of files – no .woff shown). Even though they are listed on the OMGF settings page. I’m not sure what to try next to problem solve.

    Thanks.

    Hi Paul,

OMGF doesn’t add any JavaScript (except when you have the webfont loader enabled, but that script is already loaded asynchronously). So the ‘Async Javascript’ plugin shouldn’t cause any issues.

Before making all those changes, did you disable any minification and/or caching plugins? And are you running the latest version of OMGF?

With OMGF activated (and all caching/minification plugins deactivated) try the following:
    – Enable ‘Remove Google Fonts’ — this is just so you can actually see the if all is okay,
    – Click save changes. All your fonts should be gone now from the frontend.
    – Use OMGF’s auto-detect feature to download the fonts and generate the stylesheet.
    – Visit your frontend — all your fonts should be back now (and served locally).

    Did that work?

This probably means that OMGF isn’t able to add the stylesheet to your site’s heder. Is your theme calling wp_head() properly?

    Thank you Daan
I appreciate your replies. I simply haven’t had the time to invest in optimising again. The time will come and I’ll return to this post and have another go.
Thank you so much for your time.

    No problem, Paul.
