• Recently the test email has been going into my spam folder on Gmail. My guess would be because it contains typical ad language now.

Can you add an option to send a test email without an ad? To me it feels like a testing scenario shouldn’t be cluttered with ads anyway.

  • Hi @kbat82,

When you get a chance, could you please let me know the mailer you’re configuring? There are a number of reasons for emails going to the spam folder such as emails sent from unverified domains, unauthorized sender etc. We have the option to send the test email in plain format as well, however we expect the HTML emails gets delivered too with correctly configured SMTP.

    Thanks!

    Hi @sanzeeb3

The email was sent via MailGun on the mg.example.com subdomain but the “from” address was set as website address with ‘[email protected]’.

I’ll try out the plain text option on the next server and report back then.

    Hi @kbat82,

Thanks for the details. You can change the ‘From Email’ from settings and even force it so that it would not get overridden by other plugins. To improve your domain authority, I would suggest you to set up DMARC and DKIM records and follow this documentation by Mailgun.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi,

So you think it went to spam because the “From Email” used example.com and not mg.example.com?

    Hi @kbat82,

I apologize for the confusion. That shouldn’t be the case. Mailgun recommends using the subdomain and to avoid sender verification error, set the MX records for the subdomain to Mailgun values. To avoid spam emails, you might want to improve your domain authority by setting up DMARC and DKIM records.

    I hope this helps!
