I have tried to sync a couple of users from WordPress to my Mailchimp list but although the plugin shows “user updated etc” I can’t find the users in Mailchimp.

Is this some sort of demon feature in the free version? that doesn’t actually do anything?

    Hello @admincbka,

Is this some sort of demon feature in the free version? that doesn’t actually do anything?

What? Hell no, and I’m actually a little saddened by that you would consider us doing such a thing, haha.

What version of User Sync are you using and where did you get it from?

The latest version of User Sync doesn’t actually subscribe or unsubscribe your users anymore as it was proving much too tricky to get right. So it will update your users if they are on the Mailchimp list, but not subscribe or unsubscribe them. You can use our other integrations for that, or perform a manual export from WordPress followed by an import into Mailchimp.

Hi ?? . That should have read “demo” not “demon”….

Anyhoo, what I am using is MC4WP: Mailchimp User Sync v 1.8.1

From what you have stated this looks like a bug perhaps as it is still reporting “user updated” if I test add a new user into WordPress and then do a sync.

I manage the website for a charity (it is a beekeeping org) and I need to justify all costs in purchasing any plugins. What would be the least cost option for just ensuring each user add/mod in WordPress being replicated into Mailchimp please.

    Hi @admincbka,

Personally I would use the MC4WP > Integrations > WP Registration Form integration to (implicitly) subscribe everyone registering to the website. It should work with most custom registration forms as well.

That way, the subscribers can still unsubscribe using the “unsubscribe” link in Mailchimp campaign emails without being re-subscribed all of the time.

OK, I will try this idea but our users don’t self-register on the site. If that form can be used by admin to subscribe each user that would be good.

So, are we saying that the user sync is now a premium feature and that regardless of what it seems to be doing it doesn’t actually work in the free version.

The old version of usersync should still work, but is no longer supported by us and won’t be update any longer.

The new Premium plugin has some of the UserSync features integrated but these features will NOT change the subscription status of the users during the sync and only update other user info that is not related to subscription status.

If your users don’t self register, how are they added to your site? Best way is to integrate our plugin with whatever way the users are signing up for your site if that is possible. You can use a custom integration if needed; https://kb.mc4wp.com/add-sign-checkbox-custom-form/

Hope that helps. If you have any questions, please let me know!

Hi, at the moment people register via email to a club secretary and then I add their details to the website (yes, I now……) and then manually also add their details to the Malchimp list. what I was hoping for was a sync as soon as I added them into the website. I see that I will have to also add them via the registration form so that they are added into the Mailchimp list.

All this is set to change as I am working on one-stop-shop registration process which also takes membership payment but that is in the future.

@lapzor You say “he old version of usersync should still work” but are your referring to MC4WP v1.8.1 ??? if you would just check please that the free version of MC4WP is supposed to sync new users into Mailchimp or not.

    Hey @admincbka,

My colleague meant the old version of the “User Sync” plugin and not the “MC4WP” plugin. However, that is discontinued so we would not advise using it.

We will be releasing an update to the premium version within the next few days so you could try it out and test the sync feature.

Hi @hchouhan. I have tried the integration form on a Private page and although it looks like it is OK for individual subscribers it is not suitable for a set of users. I will look at any alternative that automatically syncs any new user created in WP with Mailchimp. That and also removes the entry from Mailchimp if deleted from WP.

The integration form doesn’t seem to work. I subscribe a user and it tells me all is well but the user is not found when I check in Mailchimp.

What exactly do you mean with “the integration” in this case? Old version of UserSync or custom form integration?

    Thread Starter admincbka

    (@admincbka)

    Custom form integration. Apologies

    Hey @admincbka,

I regret to say we do not have any feature that would add users created in WP to MailChimp and delete them automatically.
