Breaks BuddyBoss Site when in Group Pages

I have the BuddyBoss plugin installed, which is a backwards-compatible fork of BuddyPress, as well as the corresponding BuddyBoss theme. The plugin already provides for a widget area in the group pages (Groups > Single Group) and the user profile (Members > Single Profile) but unfortunately they have little to no relevant widgets to add for either of those pages, so I have been looking for exactly this kind of plugin.

While I was able to easily drag the BP Group Home Widgets to the widget area, the plugin seemed to want to make a new widget area as a right-hand column to the inside of the groups main section and, oddly enough, it also removed the admin toolbar and absolute:fixed the website header as well. In the place of the widget was an error message: “There has been a critical error on your website. Learn more about debugging in WordPress.”

Now I understand that unless somebody with vanilla BuddyPress installed is facing the same issue, that this may very well be a BuddyBoss-specific issue, but BuddyBoss is supposed to be compatible with most up-to-date BuddyPress-based plugins (and themes) and this is the first time that I’ve had an issue with a BuddyPress-based plugin in BuddyBoss.

In the case that it is a BuddyBoss-specific issue I would like to create a github repo to fork the plugin for BuddyBoss since it is exactly what I need but needs to be updated for BuddyBoss in that case.
