Extreme slow-down due to Atomic Blocks

  • Hi,

    after enabling Atomic Blocks on our site, the site load times more than doubled. According to Google Pagespeed Insights. Where we used to have a rating of 59 on mobile and 94 on desktop, after enabling Atomic Blocks (just by installing it) the speed is down to 25 on mobile and 46 on desktop.

    What gives? Is there any way this can be improved?

    Hi there,

    Thanks for writing in. I’m testing the impact on my end but generally I’m only seeing a few percentage points of a difference with it deactivated. However, the Pagespeed Insights tool also seems to be going through some inconsistencies at the moment. In some tests, it shows the site as actually faster with AB activated. It’s not returning reliably consistent results.

    The files loaded aren’t really big enough to cause too big of a performance impact. Performance is one of our focuses with this plugin, so we’ll continue to monitor and test this accordingly! Thanks for the heads up and please feel free to send along any updates.
