Are there any ways to reinstall wordpress like it was installed from the beginning with no plugins and stuff without losing the comments and posts? Will it be safe emptying the wp_options and leave everything filled with information so the wordpress will prompt for a new install?

Im having problems with my blog recently, it has like 18,000+ posts so the export/import posts wont work with me and its eating all my ram, I’m on a dedicated server with Intel i7 core and 12GB ram. I just want my wordpress options to be fresh so my blog will run smoothly again. Thanks

    I sure wouldn’t do that.
If all you want is the comments and posts
    go to current blog
    Admin – Tools – Export
    save file to desktop

install new blog in another folder
    Admin – Tools – Import
use file saved on your desktop

    need to move blog now?

    or

be sure and set the permalinks
    admin – settings – permalinks

I tried the export function and like I said I have more than 18,000 posts and each posts have like 5-50 comments on it. If I use the wordpress export, its just timing out and uploading them again will be another problem. I’m looking for a way to wipe out all options on the database via phpMyAdmin and installing a new one w/o losing my current posts, comments, and user information.. Thanks

Hello… I have a problem using the export function in wp (or with the plugin Corininha linked to).

When i try to export it just loads a new page, with a lot of code… I tried copying it into dreamweaver and saving it in different formats, but nothing works, it just tells me that it is a wrong format.

Is it supposed to save a file on my computer by it self? Because then there is something wrong with the way my wp exports…

    Please help?
