Hi, Elementor plugin for wordpress has a page/post type named popup. And when you try to clone a popup, instead of creating another elementor popup, it creates a page.
Does anyone else have a similar issue?

A workaround is to export the popup as a template (into a file) and then import it again, it does the same. But it would be nice if cloning, using this plugin, worked with elementor popups as well.

    Thank you

  • Same problem here…

    Hi @gcolnik and @aksriob,
looks like “Popup” is a feature of Elementor Pro, not present in the free version, is it?
If so, unfortunately I don’t have a license for Elementor Pro nor I know the implementation details of that custom post type so I can’t say where to intervene…

Have you tried to report the issue to the Elementor support theme?

Hi, yes this feature is from Elementor Pro. Thanks for the reply, I will report to Elemntor.

Thanks @aksriob, I’m here for the very same issue, let us know if elementor team will reply.

    Hi there,
i discovered the same issue but got a easy solution for this.
You just save the whole section the pop-up includes as a template. Then you can just create a new blank pop-up and put in the template.

    This might help!

I ran into this issue and this the best workaround I could find: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0svztqomxX8

Basically, you’ll need to export the popup template, saved the exported json and import it back as a new template. This will create an identical popup (even same name). You’ll be able to differentiate from the original clone because the creation date.

Hope this helps someone some time and frustration. Not sure why the Elementor guys haven’t made this easier yet…

    Thanks for understanding!

Got stuck on this, and found the solution/workaround. No need for exports and imports.

    @kursy22 had the right idea.

While editing the Popup in Elementor Pro, simply “Save as Template” and give the template the name of your new Pop Up. You will now have an exact duplicate in your list of Pop-Ups that you can Edit With Elementor and use as you see fit.

Thumbs up to @digitalmarque. Good idea – it worked for me.

@juusui i’d like to point out it was actually @kursy22 idea… wanted to give her, her due.
