Permalinks and categories no longer work after upgrading

I upgraded a couple of weeks ago and then realized today that I’m no longer getting any traffic to my blog. My permalinks and categories are off so I tried to set them to what they were before I upgraded but that doesn’t work. My ISP is Yahoo and they don’t allow htacess. I’d be willing to hire someone to fix this because I’m panicking a bit.
