I use wordpress for my school website as a bulletin board. Each day teachers post homework assignments under a category specific to their grade.

The school office also posts daily announcements, but these announcements are quickly pushed off the front page as each teacher posts homework.

Is there any way to make the ‘announcement’ category take priority over all others eg always remain at the top of the page until the following day?

    thanks

  • Yes – make the announcement posts “sticky”.

In the Edit/Create New Post page, under the Publish Tab, click the Edit link next to Visibility. Check the “tick this post to the front page” box then save/update the post. Any posts marked as “sticky” will always be displayed at the top of the front page.

If I sticky it, won’t it stay there forever until I unsticky it, or will it remain just a sticky until the next announcement is posted – which would be ideal

A new sticky would push the older sticky down, but yes, sounds like you would want to unsticky the older sticky.
