    Hello,

Everything is working perfectly with the lazy load except one thing – after the slider runs its course of 5 posts with pictures, the first post with a picture loads only the title and picture is missing and basically there is only blank space until it loads within like 2seconds or so.

I really don’t want to disable the lazy load for the slider, is there anything that could fix this problem?

    Thank you

    Hi @misaka1

    I hope you’re well today!

I suppose that the slider is based on some JS and since it’s dynamically showing images, there could possibly be some interference but that depends also on what exactly its code is doing to show those images (after 5 posts; those that are initially hidden).

It’s also possible that the slider itself might have some sort of “lazy load” feature built-in and if so, that could be conflicting too. Did you check slider options against that?

I also took a look at the site in question but I’m not quite sure what slider it is that you are using. Is it a part of your current theme or is it some additional plugin? If yes, which plugin are you using for the slider?

    Let us know, please.

    Kind regards,
    Adam

    Hey @wpmudev-support8,

this slider is actually a part of the colormag theme. It has a bug that they haven’t fixed yet and I have no idea if they are going to fix it in the future (it has been posted on their forum multiple times) – this bug is basically causing the second picture from the slider flash when you load the site underneath the slider for a split second, then it composes back to normal. It’s very annoying honestly because all I have wanted is a clean and smooth look for my website. ??
This is the reason why I’m very reluctant to disable lazy load because the lazy load on pc caused this bug to disappear. I can choose how many images from the category I want to show – it can be 2 or how many I want or remain static but I primarily chose this theme because this slider charmed me so I’m trying my best to figure some way how to make this work.

    Respectfully,
    Misaka

    Hi @misaka1

Thank you for response and I’m sorry for late reply.

I just installed a free version of Colormag theme on my site and imported the demo content that seems to be similar to how your site works.

I the tried to replicate the issue there but it all seems to be working fine. Is there anything specific in theme configuration perhaps that I should change? maybe I should add more posts? Or are you using a premium version of the theme with more options available?

I’m asking because I can’t actually reproduce the issue while it would help to be able to actually do this. So, I’m hoping that your response will help ??

    Best regards,
    Adam

    Hey @wpmudev-support8 ,

thank you very much for your insight.
After the last update of Smush this problem got fixed – I had been dealing with it 7 days ago before the update. Not sure what could have caused it, maybe some incompatibility between the theme and Smush?

Anyways now it seems to be working fine which I am very pleased to see because Colormag still has a bug with slider when used normally without Lazy Load.

    Have a nice day,
    Misaka

I have an update actually – I tested it multiple times and I noticed that it’s doing this only if there are ads around it (on top and under the slider) from Google AdSense.

I think that’s how you can replicate this bug on your side as well @wpmudev-support8. It slides it after the 5th slide when it comes back to the first picture it slides a blank, white slide which fills in after it arrives.

If there are no ads from Adsense around it it’s working fine except the occasional white gap between the content under and the slider but that happens rarely.

    Hi @misaka1

    Thank you for response!

I don’t think we can affect (I mean – change) AdSense code/markup/behavior in any way so we’d still need to focus on the theme/site itself. What you could try though would be switching the “Scripts Method” in Smush Lazy Load settings from default “Footer” to “Header”. Have you tried that?

Also, do you have any other either asset optimization (such as caching, JS/CSS minification) and/or image optimization plugins/options enabled on site? If yes, did you try to disable them (temporarily, just for testing)?

    Best regards,
    Adam
