    Hi,

I’ve got the WordFence email alerts setup so that each time there’s an Admin Login – I’m notified via email.

I recently noticed that both ‘User hostname’ and ‘User location’ for my WordPress website have changed when I log-in. In the past, WordFence correctly recognised the location (which was local to me and accurate) however of late I’m getting:

    User hostname: lightning.a2hosting.com
User location: Ann Arbor, United States

Should I be concerned at all? I recognise A2 Hosting as my webhost but the location is way off – is there a way to reset this or is it not worth thinking of as an issue that warrants correcting?

    Thanks

  • Hey @chrisedwards2791,

Are you using a VPN by chance?

Can you please try deactivating all other plugins to rule out a conflict?

    Please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald

    Hi Gerroald

No VPN use. Oddly enough, it seemed to be this way for a period of 24 hours. I have since logged in as admin and the admin login emails are now back to what they originally were i.e. they show my correct IP address, location and my correct ISP.

Can also confirm during that period where the unusual data was being generated that I did not install or remove any plugins.

So, for now I guess – this issue has dissappeared.

    Thanks

    Hey @chrisedwards2791,

Thanks for the update, and happy to hear it.

That’s odd, perhaps it was a server configuration that was corrected on the hosting side? Either way, please let us know if the issue crops back up.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald
