    Hi.

Yoast needed an update today. I clicked ‘Update’ on the Plugins page. The update failed. An error message appeared, saying something like this:

“The Yoast update failed. It has been inactivated.”

However, I can’t find Yoast anywhere. It’s neither on the ‘Plugins > All’ page nor on the ‘Plugins > Inactive’ page. When I click on ‘Posts > Add new’, none of the boxes for Yoast appear. Basically, Yoast has completely disappeared from my site!

Also, there’s now an error on every WordPress page, saying:

“An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now.”

When I click on it, I am taken to my WordPress Updates page, but I see that WordPress is up to date.

I searched for this error message online and learned that I am supposed to delete a file called ‘.maintenance’ using FTP. Is that right?

Please help! It looks like the Yoast update failed and broke my site!

I should mention that this is the first problem I’ve had with Yoast despite using it for years. It’s a good plugin.
