Plugin update fails, blog lies in another wp directory

    my customer has two blogs, his ftp structure looks like follows (for the first installation):
    /root/htdocs/

    the second installation lies within the first one in:
    /root/htdocs/wp2/

    the first installation is updating all plugins but the second one, which lies in the first installation, is failing.

    “Download failed, temporary data could not been written” (or something else, i’m using the german distribution).

    how do i fix this,
