Yahoo Hosted Woes – PHPMyAdmin

    Hi folks,

    My site was recently hacked due to an older version. The site redirected to some junky euro sites. I went through the FAQ and cleaned the directory out after backing up the table on the database.

    The problem is now two things:
    1: WordPress is a blank page, admin/root folder/everything. I can’t get in, and have reuploaded the files manually half a dozen times.

    2: PHPMyAdmin cannot start a session without errors. Since reinstalling it through the Yahoo “admin interface”, I’ve had problems.

    The log file says:

    I hate Yahoo Hosting but don’t have a choice in moving hosts right now. I’m pulling my hair out and would appreciate any help on this problem.

  • Might try deleting and reinstalling the Database Tool (I think that’s what Yahoo calls it).

    Last night I made the mistake of deleting the database tool, only to find the database for the site was deleted aswell. Got to love Yahoo.

    Reinstalling showed the login, but I wasn’t able to get in (even with updated user/pass). It would act like it was logging in, and instead bounce back to the login page.

    After that, I used Yahoo’s restore tool (huge pain) to restore each file of the PHPMyAdmin from a previous backup. This took a few hours and was fruitless.

    Thanks for the help. My self-proclaimed “Google guru” searches are running me in circles.

    I made a backup before updating, but in any case I can’t access WordPress (site or admin) or PHPMyAdmin. I assume the problem is the database was deleted, and not inaccessible causing the blank WP.

    Guess it’s time to wait an hour for Yahoo support.

    To fix PHPMyAdmin, there needed to be a /temp folder in the root. I had deleted this not knowing it was needed for Yahoo to operate PHPMA.

    So now I’ve reuploaded the theme, and plugins, database is restored, but I’m still getting the blank pages. Can’t get into WP-Admin or access the site.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for all your help so far Michael.

    I’ve gone through and tried a few things.
    – Created an empty plug-ins folder.
    – Replaced wp-content and wp-admin with fresh copies.
    – Cleared cache, tried different browser.
    – Installed a blank copy of WordPress to a sub-directory (worked)

    I’m afraid the problem may now be with the theme. I spent a good while working on it, and I’d really hate to waste more time on this.

    Here’s the error:

    PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function: require_wp_db() in /wp-settings.php on line 250

    Line 250 says: require_wp_db();

    I have the old database, same name with old posts and settings.

    I’d guess you don’t have a complete set of WordPress files.

    If you haven’t done so, why not upgrade and following these directions Upgrading WordPress.

    I deleted the WordPress files, re-uploaded and installed per the instructions. Still getting the blank pages on site and admin.

    Kind of had to jimmy rig this, but couldn’t have done it without your help Michael. Thanks once again.

    I had to install a fresh copy of WP to a sub-domain. Once there, I added my theme, and plug-ins one by one. After the site was put back together on the sub-domain, I wiped the root and changed the siteurl.

    Hopefully my tribulations helps someone else out there. G’luck!
