I just upgraded to 2.8.4 and noticed I was having trouble doing a few things on WordPress after the upgrade.

At first I couldn’t post new posts or edit old posts. After looking around, I realized I didn’t have post.php. So I added that.

But now I’m having trouble doing two other things that I’m wondering if it’s due to missing files.

1 – I can’t preview my posts before I post them. What file would allow for this function? Where should I look to see if I am indeed missing this file or if it’s something else?

2 – I can’t delete comments. I have a spam comment sitting in my queue, but when I click delete, it disappears like I deleted it, but when I go back to the dashboard or refresh the comments page, it’s still there. What file allows me to delete comments?

    Thank you.

  • Try doing the automatic upgrade again.

Just go back through re-uploading directory by directory to make sure all of the files are there. I’ve noticed that FTP transfers can hang and files end up missing or incomplete. That is going to be a lot easier than trying to track down and replace individual missing files.

Yep, that was easier…thanks for the suggestion. I re-installed, ran into a few folder permissions, corrected those and the upgrade worked fine. Now I can do what I couldn’t before.

Thank you for the quick replies!
