• I created a new database and modified the wp-config.php file. Now my site produces an HTTP 500 server error. Can you help me revert it to the original. This step may have been unnecessary, as there was already a database in my hosting account. I thought I had to set it up manually.

  • Your best bet here is to look at the web server logs to find out what its throwing an Internal Server Error. Chances are the error message will tell you exactly what you need to fix the blog as is. The only other option is to find out if your host has backups and if you can restore to the previous state of your blog.

Will do. And how do I access the web server logs?

    Hi,

If your wordpress works fine before then there will be a alrady hosted a database too. In order to revert the settings check the database from the hosting control panel and reset the password of that database user and add that details in wp-config.php file.

    Thanks,

    Shane G.
