“Update Failed: Could not create directory” error, but folders set to 755

I’m trying to update my plugins, but I’m getting a “Update Failed: Could not create directory” error. My wp-content and plugins folders (including children) are set to 755 permissions. Any ideas for other issues that could cause this?

I recently upgraded my MacOS to Catalina, if that’s a potential factor.
